During my first week as a new camper in Clearing, I got teased because I was apprehensive about riding a horse for the first time.  I was warned, "You better hope you don't get King because he bites!"

Well, guess which horse I was assigned to on my very first ride?  That's right--King.  I just sat on him and cried while one of the instructors held my hand.

Eventually, I came to appreciate King's bad temper and general grouchiness.  And he never did bite, only nipped when he was in his typical bad mood.

I remember King, but not that he was a biter. I'm so old that many of my stables memories have vanished! I do remember that Dawn used to rear up, and gallop back to the barn; it happened to me. I'm sure I'll recall stories at the reunion.
